About Us
Welcome to Bad Taste Boutique.
This site has its inception from years ago at a little brick-and-mortar shop called Static in Winter Park. Me and my friends would spend hours there digging through punk, goth, metal, and whatever other weird shit we could get our hands on. It was the best store in Central Florida. They’ve been gone for years, but this site is for them and for everyone like us.
Freaks. Geeks. Losers. Outcasts. Degenerates.
Except ska kids.
Bad Taste Boutique is for anyone who’s ever felt too strange, too loud, too political, too pierced, too tattooed, too intense for polite society. Whether you're draped in black, shredded denim, covered in spikes, or you’re a suit-and-tie humanist who actually gives a shit about other people. You're welcome here.
What to Expect
Playlists full of bands you’ve never heard of but absolutely should.
Horror that’s more camp than classy.
Fashion that doesn’t apologize for itself.
That's right:
fashion, too, mother fucker.
If you don't think punk and fashion go together, go look at Iggy Pop posing in GQ. Case closed. We love fashion and don’t care if you don’t.
Why Us?
You don't have to shop here. And honestly? That’s part of the point.
We’re not gatekeeping.
We’re not THE source of underground culture.
If someone else does it better or has the exclusive license, we’ll tell you.
Pedestrian Press — Jeff Nelson (Dischord Records co-founder).
If you love Dischord and you’re buying bootlegs on Redbubble, stop. Pedestrian Press is the only place officially allowed to make Dischord merch. Support the real shit.
Shirt Killer — Works directly with bands and genuinely supports them. We back them hard.
This store exists because community matters more than profit.
If we find something cool, we’ll tell you. Even if it means you don’t buy it from us.
Where We Stand
We try to work with manufacturers and wholesalers who aren’t exploiting people. It’s complicated. The world isn’t as simple as “poverty exists so all work is slavery.” We do our best to keep in contact with our manufacturers, ask the right questions, and avoid the shady ones. We already have a list of manufacturers we won’t touch.
And yeah, the elephant in the room:
Some legacy punk bands have shit politics or have done truly unforgivable things.
We can't erase their impact. Punk history is messy and disgusting because that's what humans are sometimes. But we can redirect some of their profits to fight the things they stand for.
So when you buy certain legacy-band merch from us, a portion of revenue goes to causes like:
Punk isn’t about worshipping GG Allin's chaos or saying offensive shit just for the fuck of it, it may partly be it, but it's more than that. It is:
A fuck you attitude.
A fucking I don't give a fuck swagger.
A sense of solidarity for the people who are also getting crushed by the world.
That’s what we stand for. That's our thing.
And if that’s your thing, welcome home.
